Creation and analysis of patient flow models
By: Camilo Castañeda
Patient flow models are a valuable tool for understanding the steps in a health care process.
These are longitudinal models, with consecutive and parallel processes, that study the behavior of new cases of a given disease, and follow them over time as they move from one state to another.
Thus, observing specific moments in time, cross-sectional analyzes can be made, seeing how current variables affect future outcomes, and which of them could be intervened.
These models allow us to analyze
- The incidence and prevalence, both actual and expected, of a disease
- The progress of a disease through its different stages
- The potential of a drug or diagnostic method to change the course of a disease.
With these models, it is possible to determine where the main facilitators and barriers are in the access of patients to certain therapies or diagnostic tests, and to propose optimal strategies that affect the market that interests you the most.
NeuroEconomix will be happy to develop these useful analyzes with your company.
