Resolution 5269 of 2017: Update of the POS for 2018

Resolution 5269 of 2017 updates the POS for 2018 in terms of technologies (drugs, devices or procedures) that will be included. Here we explain what changed and where you can see it.
The objective of resolution 5269 of 2017 is comprehensively update the health benefits plan under the UPC, in order to expand and define the national coverage of health services and technologies, which must be guaranteed by health providers (EPS or those who act in their stead) to members of the SGSSS.
What does this resolution contain?
Appendix 1 "List of medicines of the Health Benefits Plan charged to the UPC ”,
Appendix 2 "List of procedures in health from the Health Benefits Plan charged to the UPC ”,
Annex 3 "List of procedures for clinical laboratory of the Health Benefits Plan charged to the UPC ”.
And what changed?
Are 112 inclusions (78 medications, 32 procedures and 2 medical devices). This means that in practice they are 278 new therapeutic options, several with more than one approved indication, for the treatment and care of 137 pathologies.
Chapter IV, article 38. The health benefits plan under the UPC finances the drugs in accordance with the following terms:
1. Active ingredient, concentration, pharmaceutical form and specific use in the cases in which it is described in Annex 1, which is an integral part of this administrative act.
2. For the financing, they must match all these conditions as described in the list. However, the mention of these technologies in Clinical Practice Guides, Comprehensive Care Guides, Technical Standards and protocols, It does NOT imply its financing with UPC resources (paragraph of article 4, title I).
